How to figure out your grade

Note: this worksheet is intended merely as a guideline so that you can have some sense of how you're doing throughout the course.

To use the formula below, you'll need your syllabus (which lists the percentage each assignment is worth) and all the graded work you've gotten back. You can find the numerical equivalents for your grades in the grading scale.

Fill in the first and third columns below for each graded assignment you’ve gotten back (add more rows as needed). In each row, multiply column one by column three and write the answer in the last column.

Grade on assignment X % of course grade
  X
  X
  X
  X
  X
  X
  X

  X

Add all the numbers in the last column. Divide that sum by the total of the percentages in the center column; this number should equal your current grade in the course.

If you’d like to know what grade you need to earn on a given assignment, simply try different numbers in the first column for that assignment.
