About Me

I am a Sri Lankan astronomer/physicist currently based at Texas Tech University where I conduct radio follow-up of LIGO gravitational wave signals as part of my postdoctoral reseacrh. I received my B.Sc. from the University of Colombo with a first class honours and my PhD in physics from West Virginia University, USA, where I worked with Prof. Maura McLaughlin. on pulsar timing arrays. My thesis research involved characterizing properties of radio transients and developing a technique to remove interstellar medium affects from timing data. I am a member of the LIGO scientific collaboration, The North American Observatory for Gravitational waves (NANOGrav) and the International Pulsar Timing Array (IPTA). I use the world's most advanced radio telescopes like Green Bank, Arecibo and Very Large Array to observe exotic objects like pulsars and gravitational wave events.
